Choose Alternative Health

by Kalynn Amadio

Alternative health is popular for one simple reason: it works. The difference between conventional health care and alternative health care is that alternative health is about creating and maintaining optimal health and preventing disease and other physical problems before you get them. Maybe we should be looking more at age old methods of promoting health and general wellness. Indeed alternative health regimens are becoming more sought after. The most obvious benefit of alternative health is the holistic approach, which is the idea of incorporation of mind and soul in addition to the physical body.

True success doesn’t come from privilege. It comes from spirit. Bonnie St. John is a perfect example of this. If you believe the stereotypes of the world are true, you’d have a hard time believing how much success Bonnie has seen in her life as an Olympic skier. When life knocks her down, she gets right back up.

Bonnie St. John grew up a poor black girl from a broken home in San Diego. To make matters worse, she only had one leg. The other was amputated when she was only five years old. She had no money and no snow, but she wanted to be a skier. To her advantage, her mother encouraged this crazy dream.

  • How to Get Rid of Alcoholism

    by Dark Sith

In most head-on automobile collisions where people are seriously injured or killed, it turns out that the driver at fault has a higher-than-allowed blood alcohol level; that is, he or she was driving a lethal weapon while intoxicated. Statistics from the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism show that in 2004, lightly less than 40 percent of all traffic fatalities (not just those that resulted from head-on collisions) involved alcohol. This figure is down from 60 percent in 1982, possibly reflecting the effect of seat belts or decreased societal tolerance for drunk driving. Perhaps the message, “Don’t drink and drive,” is finally getting through. But 40 percent is still too high a figure.

Alcohol has also been, historically, an important factor in domestic arguments that end in homicide. In the state of Oklahoma, about half of all victims of homicide have high blood alcohol levels, and it could easily be assumed that most of their killers were also drunk. Between 5% and 50% of all suicides, depending upon the age level looked at, were people with elevated blood alcohol levels.

  • Where is the Passion in Your Life?

    by Elliott Roberts

Life holds us by the horns and tell us that our lives need to be run a certain way. The stresses of every day life are the ones that we give the most attention to leaving our aspirations and dreams to fall by the way side. It is our responsibilities, expectations and perceived obligations that are the reason we move in and out of our created world every day. But, there was once passion in our lives and that passion can still be reborn in our newer, more adult lifestyles.

In order to attempt a self-help method of reintroducing happiness and passion into our lives, we must first ask ourselves a few questions. What made us happy as children? What life goals did we have when we were young? What did we want to be?
