On last night’s law of attraction teleseminar, I made the comment that sometimes people don’t experience the results they hoped for because their focus in purely on the results and not on the cause of the results. This created quite a stir.

Let me explain this further with this example. It is a common belief, shared by many, that personal resources are very limited, money being the most common one. If someone is feeling a financial pinch, the first thing they want to do is limit spending.

However, in doing so, they focus all their energy on the effect of the problem, the lack, and not the real cause. Now initially this is not a bad practice, until they have had time to reassess their budget. However, too many people make this practice just a way of life.

Looking at that particular challenge a little closer would uncover some very interesting facts. First, you don’t make more money by limiting. By focusing on limiting yourself, you naturally create more of that condition. I believe it was Emerson who said “The only thing that can grow is the thing you give energy to.”

Making more money, however, will! Now most people will fret over the impossibility of making more money. Since they cannot imagine how they could conceivably do that, they mistakenly assume that the infinite source would face the same problem.

Here is where most can’t understand how the law of attraction can help. They believe their choices are limited because they are not aware of anymore than what they already experience.

But here is where they need to incorporate the law of attraction the most. Here is where you put it to the test. And here is where it will yield the greatest assistance as the valuable resource it truly is. Here is what they should do.

Use your imagination to create that picture, that image of you with the money you desire. It can’t be a selfish motive; the universe will not assist you with selfish desires. It must benefit you and those around you, but for most people this is easy enough to do.

Ask yourself some questions that help you add to the clarity of this image. For instance, what could you do, where could you go, what opportunities could you take advantage of now that you are in a much better financial situation?

By focusing on the cause of your problems and not the effects of your past thoughts, you create what you really want to experience. That is, a desire for change.

Now they are focused on changing the cause of their problem and not wasting time and energy focusing on the effects.
